District Leader Is Fun

August 26, 2013

Ya the area is really nice, it’s very coastal. It doesn’t feel as humid or hot, so it’s nice.  We all live within 5 seconds of each other so we are a close district. The district covers two wards. There are 4 companionships and two senior couples, it’s a ton of fun. The entire district is all bike except the seniors and the set of sisters has a car as well. But it’s like a million times better than my last area. There are no hills at all so it’s easy riding. It’s definitely different up here, because all the missionaries up here are from the other missions it’s got a different atmosphere. I like it a lot. District leader is fun, I enjoy it so far but I haven’t had to do that much. My companion is Elder Long, he is from Mesa as well. He went to Dobson High. We live with another set of elders that serve in the 1st ward and one of them is from Mesa too, he went to Mesa High, Elder Noble. But things are going well, I like the area and it seems like the ward is really great. Almost everyone is military because we have a naval base in our ward, but I like being around the military people, it’s different. Well I forgot my camera so I’ll send pics next week. Love ya.

I've Learned A Lot About Myself And About The Lord

August 19, 2013

Things with the baptism went really well, he’s such a solid kid. I wish everyone was so accepting and easy to teach, I learned so much from him in the few weeks that we taught him. I did get transferred, but I don't leave to go to my new area until Thursday, so next week I will get you my address. I am going to serve in the Norfolk 2nd ward up in Virginia. And I get to finish up the last 6 weeks of an elders training as well as be a district leader. So it should be fun, I’m excited for something new! But besides the baptism this week went well, not too much going on just the same old same old. But now I get to try and cram all my stuff back into a suitcase and hope that it all fits. This area has been good to me, I’ve learned a lot about myself and about the Lord, even though these last 5 and a half months have been the most frustrating, stressful, and hardest times of my life, I’ve grown so much and I wouldn't trade it for anything. The old lady that we live next to broke down crying when I told her I was leaving, it’s always hard to leave all the people that you've grown so close to. Well that's about all, love ya,

It Just Feels Like I Jumped Into A Pool

August 12, 2013

It’s not a family that’s been coming to church it’s just one young man who is almost 18. He is getting baptized this Saturday so I’d say he is doing really well, I’ll send you pictures on Monday. Wow work sounds really busy, I hope that soon you can finally have a full staff. It seems like it’s been a while since you’ve had just a normal kitchen staff to work with. This week was pretty good, we taught some good lessons and I’m almost done training again so things have been going well. I’m interested to find out this weekend what’s happening with transfers. It’s so humid here it’s weird, I don’t ever really feel hot when we are out riding bikes it just feels like I jumped into a pool once we are done working outside, its definitely a different side of the country. I’ve definitely gotten our money’s worth out of my bike in this area, I don’t even want to know how many miles I’ve ridden in these past 5 months. But it’s been good to experience a different side of missionary work without a car, it almost forces you to work closely with the ward if you want to be truly productive, and I’ve enjoyed that.  Well that’s about all that went on here this week I’ll let you know about transfers and  the baptism next week. Love ya.

This Week No One Decided To Answer The Door

Augusta 5, 2013

I didn’t have my camera at the Vincent’s baptism so one of the Spanish elders in the other ward took the picture for me and emailed it to me. I just forwarded his message and that’s what he titled it. It’s some Spanish word, I can’t remember what he told me it meant. Wow you really don’t have good luck with employees, hopefully one of these days you can have a fully staffed kitchen. This week has been pretty good. Not too hot outside oddly enough. Supposedly August is the worst. For some reason this week no one decided to answer the door and talk to us. There was like 10 times when we saw people look out the window and we waved at them and everything and they still didn’t answer, and its weird cause usually when people don’t answer they try and hide, but this week it seemed like people just let us see them in plain sight, it t was kind of funny. July went by so fast! I can’t believe that it is already august. Transfers are on the 22nd just so ya know, I don’t know if I’m leaving yet. Oh and along with the consecrated oil key chain could you also send me a copy of Jesus the Christ? Well I hope ya have a good week at work, love ya.
