It's Neat To See The Success Of So Many Missionaries

February 24, 2014

This week was really good for us. No luck on Alex getting work off though. He is so prepared and ready we figured we would just keep teaching him more stuff. We have taught him temples, family history (he loves it), and the priesthood. He is going to be such a solid member. When we were teaching about the priesthood we showed the picture of Joseph Smith getting ordained by Peter, James and John and Alex said he knew the priesthood was real because of the feelings he felt. He said that he felt the exact same way that he felt when we taught him the first vision. Even though he can’t get baptized yet he is still progressing better than any other investigator I have taught on my mission. Things are going super good in my zone as well. Each companionship has stepped up and we have seen a ton of miracles everywhere. We have 8 companionships in the zone, 2 weeks ago we found 2 new investigators total, last week we found 6 and this week we found 15! It’s neat to get to see the success of so many missionaries, being a zone leader has been fun. We have a ton of meetings these next two weeks so it should be fun. I’m glad the life celebration for Shelli went well. That’s about it for this week, love ya.

I Like Getting To Teach With Other People You Learn A Lot

February 18, 2014

Well I’m sorry to hear about Shelli. I will definitely miss her. She is in a better place now though, continuing her life and her work for Heavenly Father. This week was busy for us, we got to do exchanges with one of our district leaders, so that was fun. Then Wednesday and Thursday we had leadership training, I learned a lot there. I really like President Baker, he’s a great guy. Then after leadership training Elder Pelham and I split up and went out with 2 of our companionship to teach, I like getting to teach with other people you learn a lot. Our Investigator Alex is doing really well, he was supposed to get baptized next weekend but he has to come to church one more time, but he works on Sunday. So we asked him to ask for time off and he can’t take a Sunday off until after march.... which is really unfortunate. We figured we'd just jump to the next step and we are helping him to do family history and prepare names for the temple so that when he is baptized he will be all ready. Well hope everything goes well this week ,love ya

We Have Seen Multiple Miracles Every Day

February 10, 2010

I was so tired this week from all those meetings...  and it’s not over, we have two more meetings this week, but I love it, I’m learning and growing a lot from all of them. That’s really sad to hear about Shelli... That’s too bad about your friend at work, don't worry another opportunity to share the gospel will come up!
This week was good, my new companion Elder Pelham is way fun. He is from Brighton, England. This week was super busy with meetings, but the end of the week has been awesome, we have seen multiple miracles every day since Friday.  I’ll share one of them, so Elder Pelham and I taught our Zone Meeting on Friday and the focus was that the Lord is preparing people to hear the gospel and resources and ourselves to share the gospel.  That’s been on our mind a lot, the fact that the Lord has prepared a lot of things and that he has a plan that will work out. So on Saturday, we had a great lesson with one of our investigators Winston. After, we were supposed to go to a member's house so Elder Pelham could introduce himself, but the member had to cancel. So we went back to our apartment complex because we had to do some logistical stuff for our zone on the computers in our apartment club house. So we do that and we are about to leave when Elder Pelham says he has an impression to watch a Mormon message, so we do. Then we head out to our car to drive home. As we are getting in, we see this girl walking her dog by our car. Elder Pelham and I start talking to her about the dogs and then she asks us a random question. She says, " you are the Mormon missionaries right?" and we say yes, then she says, "Well I have had this question about Mormons for a while". Now we are getting kind of excited. Then she says, “do Mormon girls shave their legs?" that was the biggest let down ever.... but then we kinda joke about it and start talking about the restoration and everything and she loves it! She starts asking some of the most inspired questions ever about the plan of salvation and the Book of Mormon. Then she says that she wants a copy and wants to read it! Then she opens up and starts asking if we believe in ghosts and what happens when we die because her dad recently died and she can still feel him around sometimes. So we teach about the spirit world and she felt the spirit super strong. Unfortunately she is technically a YSA so we had to pass her off the YSA elders. But my testimony has grown so much about heavenly Fathers plan. The series of events that lead up to us meeting her is now coincidence and it has helped me to realize that there is no need to stress about the future. All you have to do is prepare yourself, and make sure that you are doing what you need to be and the Lord will prepare everything else to fall into place to make his plan of happiness come about. It has been a really good week.
Love ya!

We Couldn't Drive Because It Snowed Again

February 3, 2014

I like how Ryan's eyes are closed in the picture. That is a really big temple. There was a baby blessing in our ward yesterday and some of the family that came in were from AZ in Florence. They were saying how warm it was there and how weird it was when they flew in on Wednesday that there was 7 inches of snow on the ground. Honestly nothing happened this week. Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Friday we couldn't drive because it snowed again. Saturday we taught a few lessons. Those went pretty well. We taught one of the roommates of the members again, he’s a solid guy. We also taught one of our other investigators who claims to be open minded, but it so "open minded" she thinks everything is truth. So it’s been a struggle trying to figure out how to help her understand the Restoration. We got transfers calls this week. I will be staying in Cape Henry and Elder Matheson is leaving. My new companion, who I will get on Thursday, is Elder Pellam, he’s from England. From what I heard he’s pretty cool so it should be fun. This week we have a Meeting on Tuesday a meeting on Thursday and a meeting that Elder Pellam and I are in charge of on Friday, so it'll be a busy week. Love ya.
