It Was Super Cold

January 28, 2013

Well we had an ice storm as you can tell by the pictures. It was super cold and we weren’t allowed to do anything for a few days cause everything was so icy. Sorry there’s never any pics of me, I’m behind the camera so it’s not really easy to take pics of myself. Transfers aren’t till the 5th. The interview went great we have a baptism on Saturday! It’s for the 13 yr old. It’s so awesome to watch her grow. There has been church basketball so she’s really made a lot of good friends with the girls in the ward, and that friend that she invites over when we teach has been playing basketball too, it amazing. It’s funny to hear about Ryan and Kiley doing math, Ryan better be good before I get back cause I’m gonna be in trouble. Over three years without a math class.... that’s about all that happened, I can pretty much eat anything now, we had tilapia one night and then shrimp and rice another. And we made egg rolls at a member’s house, those were super good. I guess your prayers worked, I’ve been given the gift of tongues. How’s work? Love ya bye.

Needless to Say, I Almost Threw Up...

January 21, 2012

So I’ve got some good stories this week! I’m basically a celebrity. There is a Hispanic guy that lives in the trailer behind us, and the Spanish elders are teaching him. He wanted to meet us because Segundo speaks Spanish. But when I told him my name he asked me a question I hadn’t gotten on my mission yet. He asked me if I was related to the Mexico Romney’s. I guess he’s from the same city as them or something. But I told him I was and he asked the Mitt question, and then he asked for a picture with me! But it was dark so we didn’t take one so I’m not sure if he was serious. Then we were at a fast food restaurant and this kid who was probably 12 came up and asked "are you kin to Mitt?" if I had a penny for every time I’ve heard that I’d be filthy rich! And when I told him I was distantly related he was super excited and shook my hand and ran off. Then my companion walked by him talking to his mom and the kid said he was changing his Facebook status to say he met a Romney. I’m famous out here!  Dad had asked me if there was anything like Filebertos out here, but I found someplace more authentic. No one speaks English there and it’s all crazy weird Spanish food, so I’ve got a couple of things to add to the list of new things I’ve eaten. The first is cow tongue tacos. Never thought that I would ever eat tongue, but I loved it! It was super good. The second was menudo.... which is cow intestines cooked in a cow stomach. Needless to say, I almost threw up.... but the work is going super good, we have a new ward mission leader who is super involved in the work so we are going to be busy! Thursday we have a baptismal interview so hopefully everything goes good! We had a 70 at zone conference. It was Elder Paul Piper, it was a good conference I learned a lot about how to teach. Well that’s about all, hope you enjoy the pictures love ya.

It Was Awesome To Watch Her Share The Gospel

January 14, 2013

It’s really that cold there?? Its 10 am here and its already 65 degrees! Yesterday it hit a high of 78, everybody is freaking out cause it’s still supposed to be cold here. It’s called winter, I guess Arizona isn’t used to it, it was pretty cold here for the past couple weeks, but the weather here changes so quick! That’s a good project that will definitely take all summer! Next summer’s project should be to build an extra room on so I have a place to live when I get home. We have a shed/closet thing attached to our house. We put our bikes in there and it’s got a dead bolt. I brought my camera this week, but the computers are acting up, these things are older than dirt... hopefully they will cooperate next week, sorry. I’ll try and find a good recipe, but as far as I know it’s just red peppers and vinegar you put on pork, it’s really good! I had more last night for dinner! It was really neat, our 13 year old investigator invited her friend to one of our lessons last week. We decided to teach the restoration, and we get to the part about Joseph Smith and our investigator stopped us and said she wanted to teach it!! She nailed it too, it was so awesome to watch her share the gospel, and to hear how firmly she believed it! Hopefully she will be getting baptized February 2nd. We had the date set for Jan. 12, but things came up and we had to postpone.  I am probably buying my GPS today, so don’t be alarmed. Love you.
